About this oil:
This oil is all finding peace and solace in the simple things, such as this beautiful garden. As this piece developed, my challenge was to maintain that sense of peace and tranquility while bringing in a few colorful passages.
 
Once I got into the depths of the painting, another problem appeared: I needed to make the upper right portion of the painting bring a sense of drama, but without going too dark. the colors are subtle within this darker area, but it is this relative darkness that really sets off the young woman.
