About this oil:
If we're lucky, and early risers, getting out into the mountains just before dawn can bring magic to the landscape. In this piece, as dawn comes to the eastern sky, looking west we see the full moon setting over the foothills and the shadow of the Earth arcing across the sky. A few coyotes yip yip in the distance; otherwise the meadow is beautifully quiet.
 
As soon as I saw this scene I knew I wanted to capture the moment in paint. This piece basically painted itself in just two short sessions at the easel.
