About this oil:
This is a piece in my decorative style.
In this piece, I wanted to capture the lore of wolves and ravens making uneasy truces. In the wild, ravens will often alert wolves of available food. The ravens get the scraps, and some in the process, allies to keep the food safe from other animals.
The wolf is one of the Native American symbols for the East. Here we see the wolf howling at the rising sun, with the full moon hanging over it all. A pair of ravens flies in to find out what the wolf is up to, hoping to benefit from the wolf's exploits.
Ravens are thought to be messengers from Spirit/God across many parts of the world. In this piece, neither the ravens nor the wolf are tied to any particular tradition.
The challenge here was keeping the piece loose and fresh...contemporary yet still realistic.
Price is for unframed work with finished edges and ready to hang. Frame options are available.
