About this oil:
The inspiration for this piece was the amazingly beautiful scenery of northern Arizona. I wanted to keep the paint application fresh, as if I painted it on location.
 
The big challenge was trying to showcase the intense color of the cliffs without going overboard on the reds. The reds are muted in most areas...more muted than reality. This allowed me to go a little stronger with the colors of the buildings and that blue door that's the focal point.
